
Kathmandu, 9 July: While Nepal's public debt is increasing every year, foreign grants are declining unprecedentedly. The commitment of grants to mobilize international economic development assistance is also decreasing. Grants have been dwindling due to the inability of foreign donors to disburse the pledged amount.
As of the third week of the current Fiscal Year, only 23.17 percent of the annual target has been received,according to the Office of the Comptroller and Auditor General. Foreign grants have not been able to come due to delays in development work and sluggish capital expenditure. Foreign exchange reserves has also been declining due waning remittance inflows, decrease in tourist arrival, huge increase in imports, insufficient foreign investment, inability to collect grants.
