Kathmandu, 7 July: Former Maoist's People's Liberation Army Commander, Janardan Sharma aka Pravakar, sans any knowledge on economy became Finance Minister last year. His competitor in his own party Barsha Man Pun  was the sole source to ignite high ambition in him for becoming Finance Minister as he had seen pomp and power of Pun during his stint as Finance Minister. During this one year period, he was repeatedly involved in controversy in more than 10 cases. The series of controversies that started with monetary policy ended with the budget he brought.  His move to terminate Nepal Rastra Bank Governor through commissioning a probe team and the last one, allowing unauthorized persons to tweak  tax rates of national budget of the country at midnight, on May 28. Interestingly,  at the behest of Minister Sharma, the CCTV footage of the night of May 28 was deleted, in a bid to destroy evidence. Unable to face public outcry and flak from his own party, Sharma was compelled to leave the Finance Ministry in disgrace. He announced his resignation in an address to the House of Representatives on Wednesday soon after an 11-member special parliamentary committee was formed to investigate allegations against him.
