
Kathmandu, 28 June: Former prime minister and senior leader of the CPN US Jhalanath Khanal has disclosed a secret that intelligence devices were installed at the Prime Minister’s Office in Nepal.
Talking to the Lokantar Online portal, Khanal recalled an incident immediately after he became the prime minister.
After Khanal became the prime minister, he had a secret meeting with the then chief secretary. The next day, the full version of the meeting was made public. When Khanal asked the chief secretary whether he had disclosed about the meeting, the senior officer denied it. Khanal, after confirming that the chief secretary didn’t tell about the meeting, had suspected the installation of an intelligence device at the Prime Minister’s Office. He then started to search for devices and finally, a suspicious object was recovered from the office.
Khanal, citing how information about the high-level meetings is made public, informed about this incident.
