By Our Reporter  Encouraged by the successful holding of the local level polls in a single phase, the Election Commission is making preparations to hold the election of the House of Representatives and Provincial Assemblies in a single phase. Although the government has not announced the date of the general elections, they will be held in November in all 165 constituencies of the federal parliament and 330 constituencies seven provincial assemblies. Pushpa Kamal Dahal of the CPN-Maoist, one of the coalition ruling parties, the other day said that the polls would be held within November. As Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba is under pressure to reshuffle the Cabinet, he is likely to announce the election date soon to avert the pressure of the coalition parties. The Election Commission has resumed the task of updating the voters’ list from Wednesday targeting the general elections. If the elections are held in a single phase, the government need to manage more security personnel and employees. But when the EC successfully held the local polls in a single phase on May 13, it could hold the upcoming elections also in a single phase. Holding polls in a single day is less expensive and less time consuming. Again, the results will come soon if the elections are held in a single phase.
