Kathmandu, 14 June: As  the Chinese side continues controlling the border, Nepali businessmen are having a tough time and import of goods is still dependent on India. According to officials, the Chinese side is still operating the checkpoint in a controlled manner. "Before, seven containers (vehicles ferrying goods) used to come daily. In the last one and a half months, up to 14 containers were allowed to come. But on an average, not even seven have arrived, ”said Ram Prasad Mainali, Chief Customs Officer at the Rasuwa customs office. Before Covid-19 pandemic, 100 containers  were transporting goods to Nepal daily from Rasuwa. The situation in Tatopani, another major border crossing with China affected by the earthquake of 2015, has not  come into operation. Since the onset of Covid-19, China has reportedly closed the border unilaterally from time to time, which has been criticized by some as an undeclared blockade imposed on Nepal by China.
