The national convention of the Nepali Congress is to take place on April 22, 23, and 24 in Kathmandu.
Strongman of Nepali politics Girija Prasad Koirala has been meeting workers, leaders and parliamentarians from East to West Nepal in preparation for the meeting and also giving directions.
There is also an agreement between the present party president Krishna Prasad Bhattarai and Koirala on the date of the convention.
Virtually all the sincere workers of the Nepali Congress agree that the convention should be held on time and they are making all efforts to participate by all in the convention.
There was once a faction that had accused Koirala of wanting to outs Prime Minister Share Bahadur Deuba, especially when the announcement of Koirala’s intention to be the party president was formally made. But when Koirala played a major role in saving the coalition government against the no-confidence motion brought by the UML, even Share Bahadur Deuba is now firm that Koirala should be the party president. Now Koirala is the center of attention of all the workers within the party and they all want to see him be the party president.
