Kathmandu, 2 June: 1 June 2001 (19 Jesth, 2058) evening came as an unfortunate and a black day in the history of Nepal as Nepal lost King Birendra and his family and many Royal Family members in a brutal Royal Palace massacre. Crown Prince Dipendra had opened fire killing the King, the Queen and other members of the Royal family and later committed suicide during this incident.
