Although it is now a little more than three weeks that the so-called People’s War has been unleashed by Maoist in a cluster of remote hill districts, claiming already as many as 12 lives, there is no credible indication thus far to substantiate the recent climb by Assistant Home Minister Deepak Prakash Banskota that the situation is returning to normal.
If anything, the manner in which the left extremists on March 3 nights used explosives at a flour mill in a Rolpa village and then proceeded to ruthlessly spray a volley of bullets in the direction of people who came to find out what had happened puts paid to such hollow official assertions.
