
Kathmandu, 18 April: Homework has been started to revive the Nepal caucus under the US Parliament. Nepal's Ambassador to the United States Shridhar Khatri has discussed with a senior US State Department officials the issue of reviving the Nepal caucus under the US Congress.
Ambassador Khatri met with Kelly Keiderling, Deputy Assistant Secretary for Public Diplomacy and Bangladesh, Bhutan, Maldives, Nepal, and Sri Lanka at the State Department 15 days ago and discussed reviving the caucus, according to reprots. The first Nepal caucus was formed in March 2011 under the US Congress.
The Nepal caucus of the US lawmakers was set up at the initiative of the then Nepal's Ambassador to the US Shankar Sharma with the objective of discussing US-Nepal relations and areas of cooperation, and to give the US government opinion on Nepal issues.
