Prachanda authorized to nominate 10% of representatives for the national convention
Kathmandu, 25 December: CPN Maoist Center chair Pushpakamal Dahal has been authorized to select additional 10 per cent national convention representatives.
The meeting of the party standing committee held on the eve of the national convention has authorized Prachanda to select 10 per cent national convention representatives besides a total of 1 thousand 483 national convention representatives selected earlier by the district committees.
Spokesperson of the party Krishna Bahadur Mahara informed that Prachanda is authorized to nominate 10 per cent of the total representatives i.e. 148 representatives from those who joined the party by quitting other political parties.
The first national convention of the Maoist Center is going to be started on Sunday at Nepal Academy in Kathmandu.
Meanwhile, the committee for restructuring the party structure has recommended 15-member office bearers in the central committee. The Center has decided to adopt the multi-leadership structure.
There has been seen tuff competition among the party workers to get the important party posts. Finance Minister Janardan Sharma is trying to get the important post of the party general secretary after the post of chairman.
Krishna Bahadur Mahara and Barshaman Pun are also eyeing the post. Meanwhile, Prachanda is trying to merge Netra Bahadur Chand Biplav led CPN Maoist in the party by offering the post of party general secretary to Chand.
