Kathmandu, 10 December: The Ministry of Health and Population has decided to vaccinate 12-18-year-old children against Covid-19 from 19 December.

Head of Family Welfare Division of Health Services Department Dr Vivek Kumar Lal, children of 57 districts will be vaccinated Moderna against Covid-19. He said that children would be vaccinated by setting up vaccination centers in schools of 57 districts including the Himali district.

He said that the children of the districts where the Pfizer vaccination campaign was conducted earlier will be given Pfizer vaccine. Dr Lal said, ‘Pfizer vaccine is coming soon. After receiving this vaccine, the Pfizer vaccination campaign will be launched.

According to Sagar Dahal, head of the immunization branch of the health service department, the target is to vaccinate around 1.8 million children against corona.

Dahal said, “We have set criteria for setting up vaccination centres in schools with more than 100 students in Himalayan districts and more than 200 students in other districts.” 

“We will give Moderna vaccine to the children by determining the vaccination centre according to these criteria.” According to Dahal, about 3.7 million doses of the Moderna vaccine will be received by Sunday.
