Kathmandu, 23 November: The Nepal Bar Association (NBA) has reached Singha Durbar saying that Cholendra Shamsher JB Rana could not fulfill the constitutional responsibility as a Chief Justice (CJ). Leaders of the NBA reached the Parliament and the doorsteps of political parties seeking their support in impeaching the CJ. Chandeshwor Shrestha, Chairman of the NBA and other agitating lawyers on Monday met Speaker Agni Prasad Sapkota and National Assembly Chair Ganesh Prasad Timilsina, former Prime Minister Baburam Bhattarai, UML Parliamentary Party Deputy Leader Subash Chandra Nemwang, UCPN (Maoist) Chief Whip Dev Prasad Gurung and Loktantrik Janata Party Chief Whip Laxman Lal Karna and asked them to immediately initiate the process to impeach Rana. The NBA officials have stated that they had to reach Singha Durbar as it was not possible to form an independent, clean, and fearless judiciary without the resignation or departure of Chief Justice Rana.
