Kathmandu, 18 November: General Secretary of Nepali Congress Dr. Shashank Koirala has said that he will contest for the post of party president in the upcoming 14th general convention of the party. Speaking to reporters at Tumlingtar Airport on his way to Sankhuwasabha, General Secretary Koirala said that he would contest for the post of party president at the 14th General Convention. He said that he is a strong candidate for the post of party president. He said that the candidature for the post of chairman would be formally announced soon. He further said, "There will be no alliance with any party in the upcoming election. Congress has not agreed to form an alliance with other parties in the upcoming elections. He said that the Nepali Congress has only cooperated with the current ruling coalition. Koirala claimed that Congress would form a majority government after the upcoming elections.
