Kathmandu, 13 November: The government is preparing to issue e-passport on an experiential basis from 17 November. The government is planning to bring into operation the e-passport from 1 January 2022. As preparation for use of e-passport, the government has planned to distribute e-passport from 17 November. According to the director-general of the Passport Department, Dornath Aryal, after completing the experimental period, the Department is planning to bring into operation the e-passport from the first week of January 2022. A French company is assigned to print the e-passport.  In the first phase, 2 million copies of the e-passports have already been printed.  Nepal is bringing into operation the e-passport with ISO 1903, a third-generation international standard, Gorkhapatra daily has reported.
