Police arrest 11 Afghan citizens today
Kathmandu, 25 October: The Nepal Police have arrested today 11 Afghan citizens illegally staying here.
According to the Central Bureau of Investigation under the Nepal Police, eleven Afghan nationals have been arrested for investigation from a hotel in Sinamangal, Kathmandu.
Those Afghan nationals have arrived in Kathmandu by using land-route from India seeking refugee status from UNHCR after the Taliban took over power in Afghanistan.
A group of seven Afghan citizens who arrived in Kathmandu earlier from Delhi via Bhairahawa have obtained refugee status from UNHCR. The Afghan nationals have entered Nepal by taking benefit of the open border between Nepal and India.
The number of Rohiangias arriving from Myanmar via India is also increasing.
