Off-season rains damage 20% of paddy production
Kathmandu, 21 October: The continuous rains for the last four days a primary level estimate shows that 20% of paddy production in the country has been damaged, according to Dr Bhanu Pokhrel, coordinator, National Paddy Research Programme, National Agriculture Research Council.
He said that this year, due to the good rains paddy farming was done in 1.5 million hectors of land.
If the rains will continue further, the damage can be inclined.
Paddy cultivation was done in around 98.33 % of land this year.
Just before receiving the paddy harvest, floods and landslides have damaged it. Around 15 districts have been badly affected, according to the Ministry for Agriculture.
