Kathmandu, 20 October: Foreign Minister Dr Narayan Khadka held around a one-hour-long talk over the telephone with his Chinese counterpart Wang Yi Monday morning and urged to normalize trans-border trade by removing the present hurdles. Accordingly, Minister Khadka has requested to resume airlines services between the two countries as was in the pre-Covid-19 period. The Foreign Ministry has informed that Minister Khadka has raised all the issues related to bilateral relations with his counterpart, e-Kagaj, Online portal has reported. Minister Khadka has stressed immediately resuming the trade between the two countries through border passes in Tatopani and Kerung and resumption of air services as in the past. As China is releasing only a few containers of cargo consignments a day, Nepali businessmen importing goods from Tatopani and Kerung are facing problems due to stuck of goods on the Chinese side for months. Seasonal goods, fertilizer and other goods imported from China are stuck in the border passes for months from which the Nepali importers are facing a huge loss. Accordingly, Khadka has asked his counterpart to allow those students to go to China to complete their remaining educational courses. Chinese counterpart Wang has assured Khadka to resolve the issues after consultation with the concerned authorities. The Foreign Ministry has informed that Minister Khadka has also raised all other issues of bilateral relations. During the telephone talks, Minister Khadka had expressed Nepal’s commitment to the one-China policy and asked China to support Nepal as her neighbour. Citing on China’s contribution to the economic development of Nepal, Minister Khadka had urged to normalize bilateral trade through the land route. Minister Khadka extended an invitation to Minister Wang and also informed the latter that the former is visiting China soon.
