Kathmandu, 12 October: The Fulpati Day is observed today, the seventh day of the Dasain festival. Due to the position of the moon according to the lunar calendar, although it is the sixth day, the festival which is observed on the 7th day is observed today. The Fulpaty Day is also known as the day for bringing Fulpaty to the Dasain Ghar. Different nine verities of fruits, flowers and plants will be offered to Goddess Durga established and worshipped since the Ghatasthapana Day. At the Dasain Ghar in Hanumandhoka Palace, the Fulpaty will be brought from the Gorkha Palace. Six Magar priests will carry Fulpati from the Gorkha Palace to Jeevanpur in Dhading and six Brahman priests will carry the Fulpati from Dhading to Jamal and from Jamal, the Fulpaty will be carried to the Dasain Ghar in Hanumandhoka with a procession attended by the Nepal Army and other government officials. During the monarchial era, the King used to attend the ceremony at Hanumandhoka, however, these days, the Minister for Culture, Tourism and Civil Aviation will attend the ceremony. Even after the country is declared secular, the tradition established by the Shah kings – bringing Fulpati from Gorkha Palace – is continued. The Nepal Army organizes an espicial programme at the Nepal Army Pavilion which will be attended by the President, Prime Ministers, heads of the constitutional bodies, and other VIPs including the heads of the diplomatic missions.
