Kathmandu, 12 October: Former King Gyanendra, extending the Dasain greetings to all the Nepalis in the country and abroad, has expressed utter dissatisfaction against the present political anomalies and remarked that democracy without monarchy and monarchy without democracy cannot be relevant in the Nepali context.
"Our society is not separate from the traditional Sanatan ideals and ancestral bravery. But our politics has not been in line with that" former King has remarked in a video message.
"The purpose of public welfare should be based on the divine belief of political purity, popularity and fulfillment of people's aspirations".
"But the political system is entangled in itself, its group and sub-groups. Ordinary Nepalis suffering from the Covid-19 epidemic, many natural disasters, unemployment, high prices and instability are unable to experience true service and public welfare."
"The essence of any change should be interrelated to the country. People should be able to experience its impact in their daily lives. Unfortunately, the commercialization of education and health sectors, the corruption in development works, the benefit being enjoyed by a limited number of people in the administrative and political professions, and the deviation in the judiciary have created a cloud of despair everywhere", the King has bluntly remarked.
"In the same way, we are experiencing pain from the intention of weakening our sovereignty, national unity, foreign policy focused on national interests, and a challenge on our security interests."
"Every Nepali has the right to freedom of thought and belief. The monarchy does not discriminate on the basis of ideological beliefs, nor is it our belief or tradition. The history of the Shah dynasty has proved that no solution has been sought for any problem outside the perimeter of national needs and people's aspirations."
"Even if the feeling of patriotism instilled in a person can be suppressed for the time being but cannot be removed permanently. For some time now, we have understood the views expressed by the responsible and patriotic citizens, who are worried about the present state of the nation, as not only expressing devotion and determination to the nation but also communicating the nationalist consciousness among the common Nepalis."
"Even though the current situation of the country has forced us to take a different responsibility, we have come to realize that democracy without monarchy and monarchy without democracy cannot be relevant in a country like ours."
"Whether we believe in democratic, progressive or any other ideology, we are confident that their respect for the nation will unite all Nepalis in one garland."
"Removing odd things in the present system by recalling the glorious system of rule of law, a country-friendly politics should be adopted to end current anomalies. We believe that all the active forces with the right mindset will move forward in the interests of the country and the people. None of us is above the country."
