On/Off the Record

By P.R. Pradhan Surely, the present-day political leaders have already been failed to rule the country. Different political parties in the alliance government are running behind their pity interests, that is why Prime Minister Sher Bahadur Deuba has not been able to expand and give a final shape to his cabinet even after spending almost 90 days in office. The supreme leaders of the parties in the alliance government were claiming that the present alliance would continue until the next general elections as they are in the battle against the regressive, rightist, and pro-monarchist elements. However, relations among the alliance partners seem becoming cold. Janata Samajwadi Party’s chair Upendra Yadav had wished to join the government under his leadership. He had claimed for the foreign ministry and DPM’s post. In the meantime, when Deuba and Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda developed a plan for not introducing the DPMs in the present cabinet, Yadav’s wish didn’t fulfil. Still, Yadav is demanding the Urban and Physical Planning Ministry along with the DPM’s position. Deuba has not responded to Yadav’s demand, that’s is why the cabinet expansion process has been delayed. Yadav didn’t attend the meeting of the high-level committee comprised of the supreme leaders of the political parties in alliance on Tuesday. The next meeting was scheduled for Sunday. The meeting also was unable to decide on the expansion of the cabinet. The political parties are claiming lucrative ministries as the prime goal of the parties is to collect commission but not to give the country a positive direction. None of the political parties is keen to build the country but they are intended to organize a daylight loot. What should we expect from such people in the government? Maybe, the present government will complete the remaining tenure of the House of Representatives and the political parties will contest the general elections but we cannot hope that good persons will get elected. The present corrupt circle will continue as those corrupt people can buy the voters and get elected again and loot the nation. Those honest people have already been disappeared from the political scene. When the leaders are corrupt and the voters are corrupt, we cannot expect a better election result. The question is that if so, is there a scarcity of those people who love the nation? Of course not. Listen to some patriotic songs, they are getting a very large number of viewers on Youtube: “You just talk about love when my country is suffering from a pain”; “Let’s go to Kalapani and fish in Mahakali River”; “My country is on the verge of inundation, let someone come to rescue”; “I am in search of a Hero”, these are the popular patriotic songs demanding a brave, dynamic leader to rescue the country. Of course, we are waiting for the arrival of the new leader. Who can be such a leader then? For the past three decades, the country is continuously facing turmoil. The “revolutionary” force came to the power but they are not for nation-building but they spent their time looting the nation. Still, they are decimating false propaganda that those who love their nation, their culture, religion and civilization as the reactionary elements. They are lauding for secularism, republicanism and federalism and trying to destroy Nepali civilization in the foreigners’ interests. Now, it is not a secret that Nepal faced a bloody “people’s war” sponsored by the South Block and RAW and today, the very elements are dancing to the tune of different foreign elements. Sure, secularism, republicanism and federalism are not in the interests of Nepal and Nepali citizens. We may lose our independent and sovereign identity if we allow continuing the present political structure. If we don’t feel glory in our language, culture, tradition, identity, civilization, then, we are not a Nepali but a foreign puppet. We cannot make an offensive jump by running behind the foreigners who are aimed at destroying our civilization. Indeed, this is the time to stand against the foreign conspiracy and to launch yet another movement to save the nation from the grip of those foreign puppets. We are seeking a leader, a hero, a warrior who could protect and preserve our country! We are on the eve of the greatest festival Dasain. Let’s pray to Goddess Durga for the destruction of those evil people and victory of the truth. May Goddess Durga gift us a hero to lead the nation!
