Kathmandu, 45 October: When some media reported Supreme Court Chief Justice Cholendra Shumsher Rana also to get a share in the expanded cabinet, the Kathmandu politics has been jolted. It is not odd that in every meeting of the Constitutional Council, CJ Rana was found recommending some names closed to him to be appointed in the constitutional positions. After the court verdict to appoint Sher Bahadur Deuba to the post of the prime minister by giving a deadline, outgoing prime minister K.P. Sharma Oli had remarked that CJ may become the next President. However, at a time when Prime Minister Deuba is unable to expand his cabinet, some newspapers and online portals have reported that Deuba and Pushpakamal Dahal Prachanda have proposed to assign CJ Rana’s press advisor to the post of a minister. The Supreme Court spokesman, so far, refuted the report, however, the parties in the present alliance government have remained silent. Some observers speculate that the report was disclosed by the leaders in the alliance government to expose CJ Rana. Oli had taken the court verdict against his decision of dissolving the House was possible through a setting in the court. The Nepal Bar Association, an umbrella organization of legal practitioners has expressed serious concern on the report related to CJ’s wish to get a share in the cabinet. The Bar has warned to launch agitation against the SC and the government if the government responds to CJ Rana’s recommendation. Considering the previous act of CJ Rana, it cannot be denied that he had not recommended a name to be included in the cabinet as his share. People's News Monitoring Service
