Kathmandu, 3 October: Representatives of the CPN-UML Legislative General Convention have demanded clarification of the party's stand on the Millennium Challenge Corporation (MCC).

During the group discussion on the report presented at the ongoing Legislative Assembly in Godavari, Lalitpur, the leaders sought views on the MCC. Bhanubhakta Dhakal, team leader of central bodies and departments, Ananda Pokhrel of Bagmati and others have sought the party's opinion on MCC.

UML chair KP Sharma Oli had insisted on passing the MCC when he was the Prime Minister. While in government, he was pressured to pass the MCC amid heated controversy within the party.

But as the opposition party, UML has not made clear about the MCC.

Meanwhile, the participants have complained that the election process has become expensive and asked the party to think about curbing election expenditure. Some of them have also opined for advocating a system with a directly elected president.
