On/Off the Record

On Sunday, 19 September, the government observed constitution day. In fact, the day was observed by the government authorities in collaboration/cooperation with the Nepal Army and there was seen heavy domination of the Nepal Army and almost no participation of the general public. More interestingly, the main opposition party UML and government partner JSP boycotted the main function organised at the Nepal Army Pavilion. Another Loktantrik Samajbadi Party organised protest programmes against the constitution.
A large crowd of the civil society organised a protest rally from Maitighar Mandala to the International Convention Center in Baneshwar demanding scrapping the present constitution by restoring the 1990 constitution.
Broadsheet dailies made constitution day the main news but they were critical. Annapurna Post daily gave the headline as: “instable executive; legislator becoming hostage and judiciary becoming controversial”. The report was based on the present political chaos witnessed in the major three pillars of the system. The present situation is that the “powerful” Prime Minister is unable to expand his cabinet; the “supreme” legislator is unable to function; the “supreme” court is involved in controversy. Former justices in the Supreme Court were expressing the view that the Court itself has destroyed the constitution.
Different media channels were airing/broadcasting special programmes on the occasion of the constitution day. However, most of the speakers had condemned the constitution. Nevertheless, a handful of the political leaders were expressing commitment to the gradual implementation of the constitution. In conclusion, those who were participating in the debate on the constitution had remarked two major points that one, the constitution is not affordable for a nation like Nepal, two, the political leaders in power violated the constitution. We didn’t find anybody appreciating the constitution. Clearly, they remarked skyrocketing the debt burden. The present system is so expensive that we need to borrow money to run the system. Within three years, the debt burden has inclined to three folds, this is the fact.
It is sure if we won’t be able to abandon the present constitution, we are going to invite much crisis soon. Presently, we are compelled to take foreign debt to run the constitution and soon there will be the situation that we need foreign debt to pay back the interest of the loans. Next, we are going to destroy social harmony, our religion and our glorious civilization if we continue to follow the present constitution. No doubt, the present constitution was imposed by the foreigners to make the nation weak from all sides and compelling us to invite foreign military intervention or say ending our sovereignty and independence.
We should not forget the historical facts that how the Kashmiri people lost their independent and sovereign nation; how the Sikkimis lost their independence; how Afghanistan is facing the present crisis! Our enemies are working with different models against Nepal. Some are trying to transform Nepal into a Christian nation; some are trying to decline the Nepali population by increasing the number of those migrated people; even they are preparing for the annexation of this independent nation like Sikkim.
Look at the present status of the political parties and their leaders! Even to get elected in the party elections, they are knocking on the door of those Delhiwallas. The year 2022 is the election year. During the elections, all the leaders watch the foreigners’ faces to get the election funds. That is why our government is unable to speak a single word against India on the occupation of the Kalapani territory, against the death of Jaysingh Dhami and the illegal flight of the Indian helicopter in the Nepali sky. In conclusion, we have the India puppet government and the role of those in the government is to make the country empty so that it will become easy to intervene the foreign powers.
We need the government of patriotic leaders empowering our military force; we need to be prepared to fight against the enemies.
The government is going to start a new national population census. Conspiracy has been hatched to exhibit a decline in the Hindu population by introducing different sub-religions belonging to the Hindu family. Similarly, attempts have been made to decline Nepali speaking population. These all are the Western idea planted in the national population census.
Already, the Westerners and Indians have initiated the war to finish our identity. Gradually, they plan to annex Nepal. If we want our nation independent and if we want to stand as the citizen of a sovereign nation, let us be ready to fight against the foreign elements. Let’s make our economy prosperous, let’s make the anti-corruption organs strong, let’s put pressure on the government to invest in new industries creating employment for the Nepali workers within the country. Let's put pressure on the government to start construction of infrastructural projects such as the reservoirs model hydropower project, Nijgadh international airport, among others. Let’s put pressure on the government to follow the panchayat era economy where all the government undertakings were making a profit; let’s put pressure on the government to follow the panchayat era foreign policy based on non-aligned and equidistance relations with the friendly countries.
The government undertaking business organizations/industries are sick due to the political intervention. If allowed them to operate independently with the professionalism they can retain and provide employment to thousands of thousands of people within the country as in the panchayat days.
