Kathmandu, 18 September: The two sets of rail ordered by Nepal arrived from India on 19 September 2020. A big fanfare was organised when the rails arrived from India. Nepali people were expressing their happiness that the country was going to operate its own rails. Alas, for one year, the brand new rails are being kept at the Inrwa Station, tents that had covered the rails have already been destroyed, yet the government is unable to operate them.  The Railway Department officials say that due to lack of infrastructure, staffers and necessary laws, they were unable to operate the rails, Annapurna Post daily has reported. The Nepal government had procured two sets of rail from India at government to government deal. The government should have started all necessary processes to operate the rails along the procurement deal was endorsed. Even after the arrival of the rails from India, the government could have developed a railway operation mechanism if the political leaders in the government and the government officials were honest.  Not to forget, even during the Rana rule in Nepal, the Janakpur-Jayanagar Railway was started in this route and it was in operation until the introduction of the multiparty system in 1989.  Also, the Nepal Government Railway was in operation from Raxoul to Amlekhgunj. The present inability of the government in operating rails reflects its inefficiency. People's News Monitoring Service
