Kathmandu, 2 September: In a surprise move, the Duba government has formed a committee to study the border issues with China and submit a report. The conduct of government has surprised many including the diplomatic circle over the formation of the panel as  Ministry of Foreign Affairs has been consistently saying that ‘there is no border dispute with China and all matters were settled in 1963.’ Prime Minister and Nepali Congress President Sher Bahadur Deuba, who looks after, unable to face mounting pressure of some senior members of his party, on Wednesday formed the study panel. Diplomatic circle has termed Deuba’s move as a diplomatic debacle, poised to ruin cordial relations between Beijing and Kathmandu. “A meeting of the Cabinet commissioned a committee to study the problems related to the border area from Limi Lapcha to Hilsa in Namkha Rural Municipality of Humla,” Government Spokesperson Gyanendra Bahadur Karki, said on Wednesday evening. He shared that the coordinator of the committee will be the Joint Secretary of the Ministry of Home Affairs and the members will be representatives of the Survey Department, Nepal Police, Armed Police Force, and border experts.
