The political boost that Prime Minister Girija Prasad Koirala and his party have admittedly received in the form of the Supreme Court verdict on September 12 quashing a writ petition claiming that the Koirala recommended dissolution of the House of Representatives on July 11 was unconstitutional is likely to be as transient as a monsoon shower. Indeed, despite the understandable jubilation in the Nepali Congress - and particularly within Baluatar circles -- there may be little of real substance to exult or enthuse about especially where the key issue of the parliamentary pools, scheduled for  November 13, is concerned, say the politically discerning. For one thing, dispute Koirala’s Supreme Court “victory”, has galvanised the Left as seldom before and steeled its determination to pick up the electoral gauntlet flung by Koirala.
