Kathmandu, 28 August: President Bidya Devi Bhandari has appointed Gen. Prabhuram Sharma to the post of the Chief of Army Staff. In accordance with Article 267 of Sub Article 5, under the recommendation of the Cabinet of Ministers, 27 August, acting CoAS Sharma has been appointed as the CoAS effective from 10 September. CoAS Gen Purnachandra Thapa is going to get compulsory retirement from 10 September. He is staying on leave one month earlier to his retirement following the Nepal Army tradition. Since then Sharma was working in the capacity of the acting CoAS.  People's News Monitoring Service
