One Nepali journalist presently residing in India has claimed that for some years some Western countries and organisations have been investing a huge amount of money in around 30 Nigerian media and media organizations. It means, the Westerners have purchased the media there.  Open Society, Ford Foundation, British Foundation for Social Justice, Institute of Peace, United for Women Equality are the donor organizations investing in media in foreign countries.  The journalist presently in India has also claimed that Nepali media too are not clean on this issue of enjoying Western funds. Antenna Foundation, one of the media organisations in Nepal, is receiving Western funding.   According to him, until now, the Antenna Foundation has received 3 million, 379 thousand nine hundred eleven US $.  Similarly, the Investigative Journalism Center has received 2.9 million and 16 US $, Nepal Media Academy has received 139 thousand six hundred 63 US $ and the Community Radio Broadcasting Association has received 394 thousand U.S. $.  “It means, how important is the Nepali media for the Western investment,” the journalist has stated. The concerned donor organizations have placed the amount they have sponsored to the media organizations in all the countries including Nepal. The Open Society headed by George Soros has mentioned on its Website that last year it had allotted a total of 535 thousand US $, out of that fund, 240 thousand US $ was allotted for Nepal. It was stated that the fund was allotted for investing in the media sector in Nepal. Moreover, an additional 368 thousand US $ i.e. 16 percent amount has also been allotted for Nepal.  It has also been informed that the Foundation has distributed 1.9 million US $ to different independent journalists and community radios in Nepal since 2007 until now. Russia had banned the Open Society since 2015 on the charge of violation of the country’s constitution and existing laws. Russia has stated that the activities of the Foundation may create a threat to the national security of the country.  Similarly, Myanmar’s military government has seized the property belonging to the Foundation in March on the charge of working illegally in Myanmar.  The very Nepali journalist residing in India has reported that especially the American donor organizations have been found investing not only in the journalists from the third countries but also the journalists from developed countries to bring them on their fold.  Of late, such donor organizations have influenced German journalists as well.  Udo Ulfkotte, an editor of a German newspaper, in his book, "Journalists for Hire: How the CIA Buys the News Paperback” in 2014 has cited CIA buying news. Ulfkotte, an editor of a leading daily newspaper in Germany has expressed the bitter fact that how noted media organizations and journalists have been sold in Germany.  The journalist residing in India has also revealed that presently, the Westerners are making all their efforts to disseminating wrong information about China initiated Belt and Road Initiative and other China supported projects.  People’s News Monitoring Service/Janaaasthanews.com
