
Kathmandu, 16 August: The Non-Resident Nepalis Association (NRNA), has released a "Whitepaper on Nepali Migrants in Foreign Employment' with its focus on rescue, relief, repatriation, and reintegration of Nepali migrants affected from Covid-19 in the countries of destination.
According to the whitepaper, the Covid-19 pandemic has left many Nepali migrant workers at lurch. The pandemic has pushed many migrants to jobless; salary cut and lay off resulting in the migrant workers' despair and desperation. over 170,000 Nepalis were sacked from their jobs due to pandemic. More than 100,000 Nepalis abroad were infected with the Covid-19 while 486 were reported to have lost their lives to the deadly infection till end of this July. Due to uncertainty of social security back home upon their return, Nepali migrants workers choose to continue toiling hard abroad as long as they can retain their job in the foreign land.
