As per the agreement between the Chinese government and the Nepal government, China had constituted the 13th China Medical Team to Nepal in 2019. The medical team is working in B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital providing medical assistance for 391 days. The average age of doctors in this team is 40 and all of them have master's degrees or above. The doctors have come from 3A hospitals (
which are the highest-ranking hospitals in China) with rich clinical experience and excellent medical skills. This is a team of highly qualified and highly educated medical doctors.
In 1999, the department of Traditional Chinese Medicine was established and put into use. After 21 years' hard work of all traditional Chinese medicine doctors, it has become the most unique department with Chinese characteristics. Now, many patients already know traditional Chinese medicines, accept traditional Chinese medicines, and being cured by such Chinese medicines.
Routine activities

The 13th China medical team members are providing regular medical services to local people, including examinations, diagnosis, treatments, and surgeries. Also, they have introduced Chinese advanced medical technology and methods to Nepalese doctors and carrying out new treatment. Dr Zhang Wei (
Affiliated Hospital of Hebei University) and Dr Wang Guorui (
Cangzhou hospital of integrated TCM-WM Hebei ) completed the first retroperitoneal laparoscopic resection of giant pheochromocytoma in Nepal, which achieved good results, broke through the bottleneck of local surgery and anesthesia and filled the medical gap in Nepal.
The 13th Chinese Medical Team has also provided medicines and medical equipment and taking part in activities to strengthen the China-Nepal friendship and coordinates the relationship between B.P. Koirala Memorial Cancer Hospital, the Chinese Embassy and various departments of the Chinese government.
During the beginning of the COVID-19 pandemic, the China medical team donated a large number of epidemic prevention materials and medicines to all sectors of Nepalese society. All team members actively participated in the
Spring Sprout Program and recommended to the hospital, China-funded enterprises and Chinese compatriots in Nepal about epidemic prevention and control according to the experience in China.
The team members are dedicated to the protection of people's health care. They have provided excellent service to local people as well as the Chinese nationals in Nepal.
