
Kathmandu, 13 November : As Covid-19 cases near the mark of 205 thousand and death-toll relating to it reaches 1,190 in the country,the Valley Municipal Forum (VMF) has recommended to the government to impose a strict lockdown in the Kathmandu Valley.
During a meeting with the Covid-19 Crisis Management Center (CCMC) the VMF is reported to have advised the government to impose strict lockdown in the Valley after Tihar and Chhath festival to break the chain of transmission .The VMF has also advised the government to increase testing, make contact tracing effective during the lockdown period.
It may be noted that Nepal’s first confirmed case was recorded on January 23. A nationwide lockdown began on March 24 and lasted through July 21. When the lockdown ended, there were 17,994 cases.As of Thursday, the Kathmandu Valley has reported 92,836 cases, with 440 deaths linked with the deadly virus.
