Kathmandu, 10 November : The House of Representatives State Affairs and Good Governance Committee has directed the government not to implement its latest decision on the official name of the country. The directive was issued after Foreign Minister Pradeep Kumar Gyawali briefed the committee about the cabinet decision to name the country officially, only as Nepal.
The government has been asked to stay its decision until the rationale behind it is verified, according to the committee’s chair sashi Shrestha. Earlier, Foreign Minister Gyawali said that federal democratic republic was the form of governance adopted by the country, hence there was no need to add adjective to the name of the country, which is Nepal.
