Kathmandu, 9 November: Minister for Industry, Commerce and Supplies Lekhraj Bhatta has said that the sugar mills’ proprietors failing to pay the dues of the sugarcane farmers would be arrested by writing to the Ministry of Home Affairs. Minister Bhatta made such remark following the request by the farmers for their payment from sugar mills while receiving memorandum from the sugarcane farmers’ struggle committee.

Receiving the memorandum from the farmers, Bhatta assured to resolve all the problems of the sugarcane farmers and said that the Ministry of Home Affairs would be written to arrest the sugar mills’ owners if they delay paying the sugarcane farmers. The farmers would be paid even by selling the lands and other properties of the sugar mills that are already closed, Minister Bhatta said.
