Kathmandu, 22 October: India’s external intelligence Research and Analysis Wing (RAW) chief Samant Goel is in town. He had arrived here Wednesday afternoon with a nine-member team in a special aircraft belonging to the Indian Air Force.
Goel, immediately after his arrival, has started meetings with political leaders including Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and other former prime ministers.
The Goel led team had arrived here from New Delhi in a special chartered flight, IFC4620, at 12:45 pm Wednesday.
The nine-member team is comprised of three members of India’s external intelligence agency RAW and six crew members.
Although there is no clear agenda of the visit, it is speculated that the Goel led team is here to know the mood of the Nepali political leaders on the recent Kalapani territorial dispute and the prolonged dispute in the ruling Nepal Communist Party.
Nepal’s Prime Minister and former prime ministers’ priority to meet the Indian intelligence officer has exhibited Nepal’s failed diplomacy. Instead of holding a bilateral meeting with their counterparts in Delhi, Nepal’s political leaders including PM Oli are satisfied from their meeting with the intelligence officer, say, diplomatic observers.
Of late, PM Oli is making all efforts to please the Indians. Oli had even stopped circulating a textbook published by including the India occupied territory in Kalapani by the Education Ministry.
The Indian intelligence team is scheduled to return Delhi at around 10 am today.People’s News Monitoring Service
