Kathmandu, 22 October: At a time when Nepal-India relations have reached the lowest ebb, the Chief of Research and Analysis Wing (R&AW), the foreign Intelligence Agency of India, Samant Kumar Goel has held a meeting with Prime Minister Khadga Oli at his official residence on Wednesday evening.
Breaching all diplomatic norms and protocols Oli met with Goel. It is quite eccentric to hold parleys with intelligence head of a foreign country by the executive Head of the Government which is unheard of elsewhere on earth.
Goel in the meeting with Oli expressed his commitments to maintain the age-old fridenly ties between the two countries, to resolve the border issues through dialogues and to give continuity to the mutual bilateral cooperation, according to Surya Thapa, the press advisor to Oli. However, he has not disclosed what Oli said during the meeting.
According to media reports, Goel came on a visit to Nepal to take stock of the security condition of Nepal prior to visit of Indian Chief of Army Staff (CoAS) Manoj Mukund Naravane. Naravane is coming to Nepal on November 3 to receive the honorary title of the Nepal Army.
