Kathmandu, 10 October: The corona virus infection cases in the Kathmandu Valley have jumped alarmingly by another 1,409 on Friday, showing no sign of levelling.

Among the 1,409 cases detected on Friday, 1,116 were detected in Kathmandu while 130 cases of transmission have been recorded in Lalitpur and 163 cases in Bhaktapur, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.

The three districts in the Kathmandu Valley- Kathmandu, Bhaktapur and Lalitpur- are among the districts with the highest number of Corona virus infection. The number of active cases reported in the Federal Capital is over 1,200 while Lalitpur has 1,700 live infection and Bhaktapur has recorded over 1,100 active cases so far.

Meanwhile, the Kathmandu Metropolis has recorded 12,424 cases with 87 casualties so far. As of Thursday afternoon, there are 5,447 active cases in all 32 wards.

The new infections were confirmed through PCR tests conducted across healthcare facilities in the valley including National Public Health Laboratory, Patan Hospital, HAMS Hospital, Star Hospital, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital and Birendra Military Hospital.
