Kathmandu, 6 October: The State 5 has been named Lumbini and Deukhuri of Dang district has been named as its capital. The state assembly, through voting process endorsed the proposal for name and capital of the state with two-third majority this afternoon.
The proposal to name the state Lumbini was endorsed with 79 votes. Eighty-two members of the assembly took part in voting. Though the opposition party, Nepali Congress (NC) had issued a whip to vote against the proposal, five of the NC members defied it and voted in support of the proposal.
