
Kathmandu, 22 September: The Secretariat meeting of the ruling Nepal Communist Party has directed Prime Minister Khadga Oli to call a meeting of the Constitutional Council at the earliest and expedite the process of appointing officials for various commissions as provisioned in the constitution. Currently, over 40 constitutional positions are vacant including the chief of the Commission for the Investigation of Abuse of Authority (CIAA).
The Secretariat has also assigned the task of completing the unification process of the two parties — erstwhile CPN-UML and Maoist (Center) to Chairmen duo Oli and Pushpa Kamal Dahal and party General Secretary Bishnu Poudel, according to NCP Spokesperson Narayan Kaji Shrestha.”They are entrusted to submit substantive proposal to complete the remaining tasks of party unification within 10 days from today,” he told reporters.
The meeting also discussed about making government works effective, and strengthening the relationship between the government and the party to boost trust of the government. However, the meeting did not discuss Cabinet reshuffle today as it did so yesterday.
