After an exercise lasting for about a month, the ruling Nepal Communist Party has finally resolved an intra-party dispute with party chairmen duo expressing commitments to end all disputes. Interestingly, the dispute sowed by Bam Dev Gautam has been resolved according to the roadmap of Gautam himself, and he has been awarded a seat in the Upper House. Of course, Gautam has saved Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli from facing action from the party though his six-point roadmap.

However, the present resolution is likely to be only a ceasefire in the party, as senior leader Madhav Kumar Nepal has already been unhappy with the ceasefire as the agreement paper has undermined his strength in the party.

According to the commitment, PM Oli should make an appointment by consulting with the party, but he appointed Dr Yuba Raj Khatwada as his special advisor on his own and refused to reappoint Kul Man Ghising managing director of Nepal Electricity Authority although Minister Barshaman Pun submitted a proposal seeking Ghising’s reappointment. These two incidents showed that PM Oli had not corrected his working style, and such act is sure to invite a new dispute soon.
