
Kathmandu, 11 September: As many as 696 new cases of the corona virus infection have been reported in Kathmandu Valley on Friday, as per the information provided by the Ministry of Health and Population (MoHP) in its daily media briefing this afternoon. This is the highest single-day spike of corona virus infection cases in the Kathmandu Valley. More than 10,000 people have contracted the deadly virus, so far.
Among the 572cases detected today, 620 hail from Kathmandu while 38 cases of transmission have been recorded in Lalitpur and 38 cases in Bhaktapur, according to the Ministry of Health and Population.
The new infections were confirmed through PCR tests conducted across healthcare facilities in the valley including National Public Health Laboratory, Patan Hospital, HAMS Hospital, Star Hospital, Sukraraj Tropical and Infectious Disease Hospital, Nepal Korea Friendship Municipality Hospital and Birendra Military Hospital.
Increasing number of Covid-19 infection is regularly being reported from within the valley in three digits since August 10. Public health experts have said that the virus has spread to community sending alarming signals.
