BABBLES Lockdown the only medicine! By A Babbler Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli is convinced that lockdown is the only medicine to fight against coronavirus pandemic. From day one, when the pandemic was spread in Wuhan, China, we had alerted the government to do necessary preparation to prevent and control corona virus outbreak but the ministers were claiming that Nepal was a coronavirus free nation! Later, some ministers were found saying that Nepalis have strong immunity capacity to defeat the pandemic, now, two death cases have already been reported. Even Kathmandu faces serious threat of spread of the pandemic. Experts are continuously demanding for conducting PCR (throat swab) test at mass level or at least one sample in one family, yet, the government is found reluctant in doing so. The fact is that almost all corona virus infected people in the Valley have arrived in Kathmandu after the lockdown. In districts bordering with India, they have travelled from India. In this regard, India has contributed a lot to spread the pandemic in Nepal. On our part, we saw serious security lapses as during the lockdown period also, people could travel to Nepal from India and within the country, from one district to another. Anyway, we have been told to stay at home for another 15 days! The people must suffer a lot when there is lack of vision among the leaders! Otherwise, in South Korea, general elections were possible during the time when the nation was suffering from the pandemic!
