The Detailed Project Report of four proposed smart cities of Kathmandu has been prepared.
Of the four proposed cities, two are in Bhaktapur and one each in Kathmandu and Lalitpur districts.
Bhaikaji Tiwari, chair of Kathmandu City Authority, informed DPRs of all four cities was prepared.
The Authority has a plan to turn the capital city of Nepal into a smart city of international standard full of modern facilities and other amenities to give a high-class experience to city dwellers, visitors and tourists.
All the four DPRs were presented to Minister for Urban Development Gokul Prasad Baskota recently.
The DPRS will later be submitted to the Council of Ministers and after receiving the approval from there, all the necessary finances will be tapped for successfully completing the project of smart cities, said Tiwari, adding further, “I am sure that all the four cities will be transformed into smart ones with all the modern infrastructure at the base once the work starts on the project.”
For the project of smart city, the Government of Nepal in the fiscal year 2075/076 BS had allocated Rs. 180 million out of which Rs 120 million was given out to Bhaktapur city project and the rest Rs 60 million was distributed among the other three proposed smart cities equally with Rs 20 million to each of the three city projects within the valley.
