By Our Reporter The second Integrated Check Post (ICP) constructed in Biratnagar has been inaugurated. Prime Minister KP Sharma Oli and his Indian counterpart Narendra Modi jointly inaugurated the ICP through a video-conference on Tuesday. The formal inauguration of the project was marked by pressing a switch button by the prime ministers of both countries through a live video conference between the Prime Minister's Office in Singha Durbar, Nepal, and the Office of Indian Prime Minister, New Delhi. They also witnessed the progress of earthquake resistant rebuilding of 50,000 private houses in Gorkha and Nuwakot districts of Nepal. Addressing the inauguration ceremony, Prime Minister Oli said that the relation between Nepal and India has gained a new height in recent years. “We need to continue our good cooperative relationship and partnership in the days ahead for the benefit of our two countries and people. My government is always ready to work with India for this purpose,” he said. On the occasion, Indian PM Modi said that the integrated check post was a symbol of partnership of the two countries and this would help improve connectivity and facilitate the tasks. Neighbourhood is the first priority of my government, he said, adding that the government of India would focus on connectivity for strengthening the bilateral relationship between the two countries. Modi also said that integrated checkpoints would be developed in other places. The first ICP had come into operation in Birgunj in April 2018.
