Kathmandu, 22 January: Due to difference between the Prime Minister and Tourism Minister, appointment of chief executive officer of the Tourism Board has been affected.
The Board’s meeting held on Sunday evening had decided to recommend the names for the CEO, however, the decision has been postponed until issuance of another notice.
Board’s CEO Deepakraj Joshi completed his tenure last month. A committee has been formed to recommend the names. Board member Biplab Poudel is the convenor of the committee, in which, Tourism Ministry’s joint secretary Ghanashyam Upadhaya and board member Krishnabahadur Mahara are the members.
The committee had recommended Dr Dhananjaya Regmi, Deepak Bastakoti and Hikmatsingh Aire’s name for the CEO.
The Tourism Minister had wished to assign Dr Regmi as the new CEO, however, the Prime Minister didn’t become positive on this name.
The PM has wished to assign a member of the Yeti Group, according to reports.
