The Editors’ Society of Nepal has decided to honour Nagarik daily’s editor Gunraj Luintel with the Govinda Biyogi Journalism Award-2020.
Accordingly, another journalist Prakash Giri, news editor in the Sagarmatha Television has been honoured with Govinda Biyogi Special Journalism Award-2020.
The two awards established in honour of Society’s founding chairman late Govinda Biyogi consists a purse with Rs. 25001 and Rs 15001 respectively along with letter of appreciation.
Accordingly, the Society has decided to honour three senior journalists for their outstanding contribution in the field of Nepali journalism.
They are senior journalist and former ambassador Hiranyalal Shrestha, senior journalist and diplomat Madhab Kumar Rimal and senior journalist late Jayaprasad Dahal.
A three member team led by senior journalist and executive member of the Society, Parashu Ghimire, executive member Hari Lamshal and Madhav Dulal had recommended the Award winners’ name.
The executive committee meeting of the Society held on 12 January had approved the recommended names.
The awards will be distributed at a special function to be organised on Saturday, 18 January at the Govinda Biyogi Journalism Study Center premises in Suryachour, Shivapuri Rural Municipality-7.
To recall, the Society, with the support of late Biyogi’s family members and other well wishers, has constructed Study Center in Suryachour, Nuwakot, about 10 Kms far from Kathmandu. The Center will be equipped with all the facilities for those local and foreign journalists interested in research work and study while staying in the Center.
