Kathmandu, 11 January: Crusher operator Bippin Mahato, has been arrested from his wife’s home in Mills Area on Saturday morning, according to Ramesh Basnet, Nepal police chief in Dhanusha.
He has been arrested for investigation on murder of Dilip Mahato, 24. Dilip, was protesting against illegal sand mining in rivers.
According to Dilip’s family members, Bippin had warned to kill Dilip three days ago.
On Friday, when crusher operators were illegally collecting sand from Aurahi river in Mithila Municipality 5, Dilip had protested. Dilip died on the spot after he was run over by a tripper.
On Friday morning at around 4 am when Dilip knew sand smugglers were collecting sand from river, he protested them. He was beaten and a tripper with No Plate Na 7 Kha 6413 was run over his body.
