We, the Nepalese people, observe 27 Pous (12 January) as the National Unity Day and birth anniversary of the great warrior King Prithvi Narayan Shah. Although the government of “revolutionaries” has stopped observing national unity day on 27 Pous, people have not stopped celebrating the Day with great fanfare. Muslims and Hindus had ruled in the India states before they were invaded by the British imperialist East India Company imposing Christianity. They came first as traders, then they distributed Bible and later took-over one after another Indian states through the use of military force backed by Great Britain. By knowing the intention of the British imperialists, King of Gorkha, Prithvi Narayan Shah unified more than 54 small Hindu states as the United Hindu Kingdom Nepal.

Nepal and India are only the two pious Hindu countries in the world. These Hindu countries are bordered in between Kailash-Mansarowar in the north and Hinda-Mahasagar in the south, which is popularly known as the original place of Hindu and Hinduism. Hinduism educated us global brotherhood, humanity and respectful coexistence among different communities. I strongly believe that Hindu philosophy can guide the entire world for humanitarian norms and values. Hinduism is our identity, Hinduism is our dignity, Hinduism is our life. It is our pride that we are part of it.
Prithvi Narayan Shah, the unifier of Nepal is the glory of Nepal. Almost 100 years before Germany and Italy were unified and restored the Meiji dynasty, Prithvi Narayan Shah had unified 54 small Hindu states making only Hindu kingdom in the world. The British Empire, spreading in Asia, after getting hold in India had eyed on mountainous region Nepal. It was not an easy task to fight against the British force during that time. As our culture, religion and nationality were in danger, Prithvi Narayan Shah was compelled to form Greater Nepal.
The Shah King had kept the originality of mountainous Nepal by holding the Moon-Sun depicting flag to wave, which obliged all the Nepalese in the world. The creator of this nation, Shah the Great had explained in his Divine Counsels: “This is not the nation gained by my trifle efforts, this is the garden of all class of flowers, and may all be aware of this”.
It is sad to note that after the 2006 uprising, the so-called revolutionaries — the Maoists mobilized from RAW and EU – demolished the statue of the Great King Shah and Krishna Shitaula like Indian puppets abruptly cancelled the tradition of observing King Shah’s birth anniversary as the national unity day.
Prithvi Narayan Shah is the founder of the present Nepal. He unified more than 40 small countries and built greater Nepal having borders from Tista in the east, Kangada in the west and Rivar Ganga in the south. Today, we have our motherland Nepal with the Nepali identity. By forgetting the contribution of the Great King, the foreign puppet leaders have done great injustice on the Nepali sentiment. In 2006, after introduction of “loktantra”, Krishna Sitoula, who is known as more Indian than the Indians, was being rewarded as the home minister. He took the decision to scrape the national holiday along with scrapping national unity day, which was being observed on the day of birth anniversary of the Great King. We can understand the intention of Sitoula, who is working to fulfill the Indian mission here.
Why Christians are against the great King, that also we can clearly understand. The Great King was encouraged to unify the modern Nepal to save Nepal from the Christians at that time. As one after another stated in India was annexed by the British East India Company, the Great King felt a threat to Nepal and thus, had initiated this humble job of unification of the modern Nepal. The Great King had kicked out the Christians as they were campaigning for Christianity in Nepal at that time. Those Christians, who were kicked out from Nepal had sheltered in India and tried to defame the Great King. After the unification of the greater Nepal, the Great King had claimed that Nepal has remained a true Hindustan (the home for the Hindus).
The British rulers were unable to defeat the united Nepal; therefore, they were not only against the Great King but were also against the institution of monarchy in Nepal. Needless to say, there also were Christians’ hands in removal of the institution of monarchy and declaring Nepal a secular nation. The leaders who had entered the agenda of secular republic federalism, have pocketed a huge amount of Euros and dollars, it is now an open secret. However, from such deeds of sabotaging the contribution of the Great King by the government, they have lost their popularity, which, they can test over the election result.
The American citizens never forget the history of Gorge Washington, who gave freedom to the people from the British imperialism by unifying the United State of America almost after 30 years of the Nepal’s unification (1768). The Gorkha King declared Kathmandu as the capital and Nepal as the kingdom but not Gorkha. King Shah not only brought different caste and ethnicity dominated states under one umbrella but also laid a solid foundation of the modern state. He explained Nepal as a “yam between two boulders” and suggested for a delicate balanced relationship with the two giant neighbors, which is considered as a fundamental policy in our foreign affairs. King Shah, on the side of governance, had indicated that both bribers and takers are the enemies of the nation. Nepal’s identity is the Hindu Kingdom in the globe. Our so-called revolutionary leaders sponsored by the foreign powers have tried to remove our identity by declaring Nepal a secular republic. If we fail to restore Hindu Kingdom, we will be removing our own identity forever. It is ungrateful to try to forget the creator of Nepal, king Shah the Great. Let's all we the patriotic Nepalis pay tribute in 27 Poush to the Great King Prithvi Narayan Shah!
