The Public Account Committee under House of Representatives that had smelt rat in the purchase of security printers has decided to investigate into the security printer and machinery purchase procedures.
The government had decided to purchase the press machines from Germany to print the most sensitive documents like National ID Card, currency notes, passports and excise stickers in the government to government (G to G) model.
After receiving information about misuse of huge money in the deal, the parliamentary committee decided to investigate into different steps of the purchase process.
Bharat Kumar Shah, president of the committee, said that the committee would observe each step carefully and warn the government on the issue.
Complaints were filed against the purchase suspecting irregularities. They had suspected fraud of 50 to 60 million Euros in the machinery purchase, reported The Rising Nepal in its main news story on Tuesday.
Bijaya Prakash Mishra, a representative from Machinery Security Printing Nepal, said that the government could purchase the whole solutions to printing all security documents relying on the limitations of Rs. 200 million. “Rs.100 million is enough for purchasing half-solution machines as our government had approached to a German company,” he added.
