Kathmandu, 25 December: Along with Upendra Yadav led Socialist Party’s departure from the government, the Khadga Prasad Oli led Nepal Communist Party government has lost two-thirds majority. However, the government still enjoys simple majority.
Deputy Prime Minister Upendra Yadav’s team quit the government on Tuesday blaming the ruling party’s reluctance on amendment of the constitution.
To secure two-thirds majority, NCP needs support of 184 MPs. In the Federal Parliament, NCP holds the strength of 174 MPs. The Socialist Party holds the strength of 17 MPs.
Yadav and Istiyak Rai were included in the government. Both have tendered resignation on Tuesday.
