By Our Reporter In a largest ever police crackdown on Monday, as many as 122 Chinese nationals were arrested in Kathmandu for their alleged involvement in illegal activities. A joint squad of Metropolitan Police Range, Kathmandu, the Central Investigation Bureau (CIB) and Metropolitan Police Crime Division, detained the Chinese nationals during the operation from various parts of the capital. It was said that the arrest was made at the request of the Chinese Police. Information about the Chinese nationals, who were residing in Nepal, and doing illegal activities against the given Nepal’s law, was first relayed from Nepal Police Headquarters, Naxal. Police took them under control from Banshbari, Manamaiju and Budhanilkantha of Kathmandu. Police during the operation had raided two homes in Banshbari and Manamaiju and one house at Budhanikantha and detained them. According to Nepal Police, Kathmandu police detained them for their involvement in financial crime in China staying in Nepal. Visas term of most of the arrested Chinese nationals were found expired and doing works here in hotels, and IT sectors. During the police raids, they were found operating various computer and software base programming to commit financial crime taking flats in sporadic places of Kathmandu. Most of arrested Chinese nationals were found entered in Nepal in a tourist visa. All the detainees have been kept in various police custodies of the city. Police seized laptops, computers, and mobile phones from the raid spots. There were nearly 25-30 Chinese nationals working in group at one home, police said. Meanwhile, Kathmandu District Administration on Tuesday issued a five-day remand order to put the arrested Chinese nationals in police custody for further investigation.
